5: STATEMENT VERSION
PURPOSE
The
FOCUS series of five personality questionnaires was
developed on-line for the remote assessment of personality
across National boundaries.

DESCRIPTION
Part of the FOCUS series, FOCUS 5:S measures the 'Big Five' personality factors using statement items. It is a normative questionnaire with 60 items
RELIABILITY
Internal Consistency reliabilities range from .68 to .83 across the scales. Median relaibility for the 'Big Five' scales is .80.
Standard Error of Measurement ranges from 2.32 to 3.03 raw scores across the scales.
Standard Errors of Difference are on average 4. A difference of around 8 or more raw scores constitutes a real difference.
VALIDITY
Interscale correlations range from .21 to .45. Highest correlations are between Extraversion and Agreeableness and between Extraversion and Openness to Change.
Construct validity: FOCUS 5:S was compared to marker variables from the International Personality Item Pool (2001). There are strong correlations between the FOCUS 5:S and the marker variables from Goldberg's 50 Big-Five Factor Markers (IPIP, 2001) ranging from .69 to .50.
Criterion Related Validity: Correlations with Manager rating show Conscientiousness as the strongest predictor of job performance (.36) Emotional Stability (.21), Agreeableness (.18) Openness to Change (.16) and Extraversion (.11) 13% of the variability in job performance ratings was accounted for by the FOCUS5:S.
